About

Miwa has trained in and performed traditional Japanese string music since she was a child. When she moved to Colorado in 1996, she continued her study under Yoko Hiraoka, a senior master performer of Japanese string instruments in the Ikuta School. Miwa holds a teaching certification from the Somei Ongakukai in Tokyo, Japan. She has performed at a variety of public and private events throughout Colorado. In addition to koto and shamisen, she also drums for Taiko with Toni.

Silk Harmony performances can be booked for short sessions up to 30 minutes, or by the hour (with 15 minute break.) The music works perfectly as background music for social events, or for educational, interactive sessions related to Japanese traditional music and culture.

Miwa also performs sankyoku music with Sankyo Trio: sankyotrio.com
